Mercy Care – Managing Capital Projects Over $100 Million
A not-for-profit organization, Mercy Care offers comprehensive care for those who cannot afford it through traditional channels. At Darden, our relationship with Mercy Care dates back to the 1980s when St. Joseph’s Hospital leaders (also Mercy Care board members) asked us to assist on an expansion of their downtown clinic. Since that time, we have led capital projects valued at more than $100 million in support of their tremendous expansion.
At the heart of our organization, we have connected deeply to Mercy Care’s mission, even giving through volunteer hours to the organization that we care so deeply for. We have overseen design and construction on a series of projects, like the new Chamblee clinic, where we replaced a small aging facility with a new 2-story building better equipped to serve the community. And today, we manage Mercy Care’s $21 million investment in its downtown headquarters and primary health clinic in Atlanta, including a $10 million medical office building and a 6-phase, $11 million renovation of the entire downtown clinic and administrative building – knowing this will double their capacity of care and expand their range of services.
But what’s most remarkable? The 30+ year relationship with Mercy Care has given as much to Darden employees as we have returned to their organization. We have witnessed how an organization dedicated to helping those that cannot help themselves lives and breathes its mission daily. And to us, connecting to a client’s mission is what gives us purpose.
